Sunset Grill Restaurant

Not the same as the Sunset Grill chain. Eating area is not particularly well maintained and the toilets were pretty grim. Food is Ok, but not what you expect from a diner like this, as most of the dishes shouldn't be too hard to make well.

Surely a spot worth stopping over, the food is excellent and fresh, the prices are reasonable and it is always clean there. Keep it up.

Weekday visit around 9:30 am. Good things...great location on Queen street. Lots of parking in area either paid on Queen or free (if you can find it) on the sidestreets.Great staff. Friendly and quick service.Reasonable prices . We both had the breakfast special of eggs and bacon, coffee, toast, potatoes. $21.Food was okay. Potatoes burnt in places. Coffee was less than inspiring.Atmosphere. Dated and run down. Washrooms are in the basement. I would recommend avoiding this trip if you can because I would describe it as dank.Open kitchen in middle of restaurant which looked clean.They have a ramp at the front door so you could probably get a stroller/walker/wheelchair in but it would be a small challenge to do so. As well this would only give access to the front/lower section by the kitchen which would not be suitable for larger groups.I would give this a pass on any future visits.

This place is my number one restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this restaurant. Whenever I feel like having a delicious lunchon, this place comes instantly to my mind. fresh and diverse food and a large list of dishes.generous staff, and agreeable atmosphere. And very important, the bill is modest. I praise this restaurant with great pleasure.

Quick service, standard diner fare with pancakes, toast and the like. Portions were generous, fruit was fresh, meats - steak, sausages, bacon were tasty. Not bad for a quick and easy breakfast

I generally go to the Sunset Grill on Danforth at Coxwelll. It is always great. I happened to have a craving for pancakes and went to the Beaches location. They were the worst pancakes I have ever had! They were raw on the inside. More like a cake than a pancake. The waitress was very efficient and immediately disposed of the raw ones. The fresh ones were at least cooked but still nothing like what a pancake should be. Very artificial and tastes like a cake. I won't be having any cravings for pancakes anytime soon!

I was really disappointed after this visit. I hadn't been to this location in years and unfortunately the pancakes were really dry and to make matters worse we found the server's hair in between the pancakes. We were given one pancake for free but that was kind of silly because only one pancake was eaten. It's a shame because it's a really classic diner but I don't think I would return.

This restaurant provides superb service and yummy food. My favourite spot in town. The drinks and food came out quick and the prices were economical. Recommended.

Standard breakfast fair but A full lunch and dinner menu as well.They offer a turkey bacon alternative to those who do not like pork products.The coffee is pretty good.

Horrible Meal. Terrible Service. Ordered a breakfast and substituted the home fries for a salad. The meal itself was mediocre at best. Also the salad was no where near fresh, not to mention consisted of whole circle slices of cucumber and tomato placed onto of a bed of browning lettuce with soggy grated carrots on top. When I returned hoping to switch it for a different kind of salad, or at very least a fresh one, I was responded to with hostility, a sour attitude and not even an attempt at resolving my problem. If you like good service and a tasty meal, this is NOT the place to go.

I was lucky to find the place. It was open for breakfast while the restaurants around were still closed. The facade isn't fashionable or good but the food and the service is simple and great and inexpensive..

Yum, Sunset Grill is always good. I like this location the most as it looks the most unique and isn't the traditional looking layout/design.

The quick service on a Sunday afternoon surprised me. The restaurant seemed small when we first walked in, but the long narrow layout held a beautiful sky light at the rear. The food was okay diner food.

Great little neighborhood joint. Pancakes are thick, large, and scrumptious. Omelets are huge and delicious. Ask for the real maple syrup. Wonderful food great service. Oh, and excellent coffee. Get there early on the weekend before the line forms. Very popular neighborhood spot.

A place is a must visit place. I went to this place very first time. I loved the decor and the location of this restaurant. This particular sunset grill has really good options in the menu. The service was great and I found it was faster than any other sunset grill i have ever been too. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, server took our order right away and the food was on our table with in few minutes. They were pretty quick with refilling coffee and water and all servers were checking up on us every few minutes that was good and professional. The restaurant was clean and the staff was professionally dressed even the cooks had clean chef coats on and the kitchen space was kept clean even when restaurant got really busy. I will recommend this place to everyone who wants to have a nice brunch experience. You will not regret this place at all.

Decent for what it is

Excellent selection for breakfast with fair prices. Specials and mainstays are recommended. Smoked salmon eggs Benedict is quite good. The staff are friendly and attentive - filled our coffee twice and brought water and always checking if you need anything. Pictured is the Meat Lovers breakfast - $14.99 with toast and coffee. Delicious!

This is my beaches breakfast spot...this is the place...take the lady have breakfast and go walking by the beach.

Good prices on breakfast Monday through Friday before 11am. Eggs, sausage and bacon were good.

Sitting in sunshine grill, heard some positive reviews of the place and decided to have brunch, for a potential gathering for an employee brunch this weekend. Not after today's experience, customer service is atrocious, you sweat yourself in a restaurant that is barely filled while 2 servers take there time getting with clients.I also had to walk to the kitchen staff and place my own order. Staff is destroying the experience to a place I thought would be an experience to remember. I won't be recomming this place to anyone and am ashamed, being an active member in the beaches. Get your act together Sunset, wheres the people that care about delivering the best service. Just lost a customer for life. Such a shame.

IHOP in the US gives you all you can eat pancakes for $4.99! This place charges a buck for each pancake? What a rip-off!

Good food and service... atmosphere a bit lacking

Fab brunch at the original Sunset. Busy and slow, but the food was great and the chillaxed beach atmosphere made for a memorable visit.

lThe OG mega-brekkie joint. Back when people ate real breakfasts, back before crushed/smashed/ransacked avocado on toast (defo not white, probably organic rye/pumpernickel) Canadians like us Brits had big bloody breakfasts. This is that place. It's not quite a great spoon, it's bigger and better than that, but you leave with a similar feeling is sation, slight overeating and contentment.This Sunset Grill, on Queen St East, out near the beaches is the one that birthed the franchise. Come, pay homage to the Mother of Dragons, I mean breakfasts.

Egg shells in my food left a bad taste in my mouth

Delicious food, many choices to choose from. Great and courteous staff, always on top of orders and making customers comfortable. If you ever have watched bar rescue and they talk about how a good draft beer is poured into a nice clean glass well you can expect that at the Sunset Grill.

This is our Sunday go-to. Along with the good food, big portions and nice hot cup of coffee- the friendly staff is what makes this Diner a 5-star Breakfast place! The staff truly resonates with the warmth of this cute diner tucked on Queen East. Go here for the second time and the friendly faces will start to recognise you. Also this is the only Diner in Toronto that serves a huge Chicken burger at $6.95.
